Grant-writing seminar
LIBERTY -- A half-day grant-writing seminar will be offered Sept. 26 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex. The seminar will be conducted by Susan L. Golden, a fund-raising consultant and best-selling author of "Secrets of Successful Grantsmanship: A Guerrilla Guide to Raising Money."
Registration begins at 8 a.m. for the seminar, which is sponsored by the Mahoning-Shenango Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Fees are $40 for AFP members, $50 for nonmembers. For more information, call Gloria Cagigas at (724) 946-7368.
Safe driving program
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The AAA Seniors for Safe Driving program will be offered this month and in October in the Shenango Valley. No driving is required.
The first course is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24-25 at Jason Black Chevrolet at Main and Walnut streets in Sharpsville. There will be a class from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4 at Sharon Regional Health System's Hermitage Healthplace on Highland Road and another from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9 at Mel Grata Chevrolet on East State Street.
The fee is $12, and drivers older than 55 who complete the course receive a discount of at least 5 percent on their auto insurance in Pennsylvania. To register, call (800) 559-4880.
Seeking owner of safe
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- State police are looking for the owner of a large safe. Police said the safe was found Friday in the state game lands on Mason Road in Plain Grove Township. They think it may have been taken during a burglary.
