WARREN -- Youngsters grades seven to 12 are invited to design artwork that displays an America Recycles Day theme for a contest by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District.
The winner will receive a $50 mall gift certificate, and the artwork will be printed on folders distributed throughout his or her school.
The second place is a $25 gift certificate.
Entries must be turned in at district offices by America Recycles Day on Nov. 15.
Trainer for Camp Fire
CANFIELD -- Camp Fire USA Northeast Ohio Council CEO Barbara A. Smith has been named a national trainer for Camp Fire USA.
She will be one of the trainers responsible for training council program directors and staff for the eastern region of the United States.
Smith has served as the Northeast Ohio Council CEO for nearly 12 years, helping the council grow to cover 10 counties.
Programming has grown from age-level clubs and camping to include in school programs and preschool programs.
The council serves Mahoning and Trumbull counties as well as Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties.
It is seeking members and adult leaders for the Community Family Club program that aims to strengthen families while enriching youth.
