WARREN -- The Trumbull County grand jury has returned a 22-count indictment against the former chief financial officer at Kirila Contractors of Brookfield.
Robert P. Mild, 35, of Stewart-Sharon Road, Brookfield, is accused of 17 counts of money laundering, three counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, and one count each of aggravated theft and forgery.
Sheriff Thomas Altiere said Mild is accused of embezzling more than $650,000 from the company.
Arrested
Mild was arrested last week on theft charges related to the embezzlement scheme, sheriff officials said. He pleaded innocent and was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
Mild is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment Tuesday before Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Authorities also are seeking forfeiture of numerous parcels of land, several houses, including Mild's home, 17 stocks, three gas and oil wells, and 13 vehicles.
The indictment further notes that Mild owns several businesses, including Mild Farms, Mild Realty, Stewart Realty, Peas in a Pod Day Care and Cherry Street Day Care.
Deputies stated that the Kirilas noticed the theft a few months ago, after they hired an auditor to review their books. To assist in the investigation, deputies confiscated Mild's home computer and numerous papers.
