NEW CASTLE, PA. Court postpones hearings for 2 charged in shooting



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Hearings for two men accused in a shooting on West Washington Street were postponed until next month.
Jermaine Wilson, 20, of Beech Street and Brian Lee Payne, 18, of East Lincoln Avenue will appear for preliminary hearings Oct. 18 before District Justice Melissa Amodie.
Payne and Wilson are accused in the Sept. 8 shooting of Michael Polite, 23, of Hilton Street, Youngstown, and Donald Altman, 65, of West Washington Street. Police said the two men attacked Polite inside the West Side Mini Mart. Shots were fired when he ran off.
Polite was injured in his right foot, and Altman, a bystander, was shot in the back.
Wilson faces charges of criminal attempt to commit homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats and carrying a firearm without a license.
Payne is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats and harassment.
Both remained in jail Friday after each failed to post $200,000 bonds.
