YOUNGSTOWN -- The exchange of nuptial vows took place at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at St. Dominic Church as Charisse Lynn Barber, Orlo Lane, Boardman, and Nicolas John Mayhew, Lynn Avenue, were united in marriage.
Monsignor John Zuraw officiated for the daughter of Dominic and Marilynn Barber of the Orlo Lane address, and the son of Richard Mayhew, Truesdale Road, Boardman, and Barbara Mayhew, Lynn Avenue.
After a reception at The Georgetown in Boardman, the couple left on a Caribbean cruise. They live in Boardman.
The bride wore a sleeveless A-line white matt & eacute; satin gown embellished with pearls and lace. It featured a sheer yoke, jewel neckline, and a chapel train.
Lavender gowns were worn by Tracy Martz, the honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Tracie Barber, the bride's sister-in-law; Anissa Knapik; and Neesa Mayhew, the groom's sister. Junior bridesmaid was Caroline Abboud.
Jack Martz served as best man, and groomsmen were Brian Barber, the bride's brother; Sean Rhattigan; and Mike Shirilla. Junior groomsmen were Dennis Abboud and the couple's godson and bride's nephew, Dominick Barber, and ring bearer was Ryan Knapik.
The bride holds a bachelor's degree in elementary/special education from Youngstown State University and earned a master's in curriculum and instruction at Ashland University, Ashland. She is a special-education teacher with Howland Local Schools.
The groom is employed by Kaleel Brothers in Boardman and is pursuing a degree in education at YSU.
