BEREA Sign switch on turnpike almost done

BEREA -- The Ohio Turnpike is completing this month its transition from its old exit numbers to new ones designated by mileposts.
For example, an exit sign for the Market Street Extension (state Route 7) interchange in North Lima, the former Exit 16, will now be designated as Exit 232 because it is at Mile 232 of the turnpike.
New exit signs will feature only the mile-marker designations. Turnpike miles are designated from west to east, beginning with zero at the Indiana border and running to mile 241 at the Pennsylvania border.
The turnpike is making the transition to become consistent with federal interstate highway exit numbering standards, to help motorists avoid confusion and more accurately estimate driving times, and to assist safety personnel in locating motorists in distress, said Lauren Dehrmann, turnpike public affairs manager.
