STRUTHERS Poland man gets probation on charge involving a train

STRUTHERS -- Judge James R. Lanzo fined a Poland man $50 plus court costs and sentenced him to 30 days in jail, suspended, and one year reporting probation on a criminal trespassing charge stemming from an incident in June that resulted in the delay of four fully loaded trains.
According to police reports, John N. Armeni, 30, of 8523 North Lima Road, Poland, was operating a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle on CSX railroad tracks about 300 yards east of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge when the vehicle got caught. The conductor of an eastbound train spotted Armeni and his passenger, Kimberly A. Sheehan, 41, of Hillsville, Pa., activated his emergency break and radioed the conductor of a westbound train to activate his emergency brake. Trains behind each of those stopped near the scene were also delayed.
Lanzo fined Armeni $50 plus court costs on a criminal damaging charge in connection with the same incident.
Sheehan will go on trial Wednesday.
