MAHONING CO. Torch Club to celebrate 75 years in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Torch Club begins its 75th anniversary season Monday. The club, founded Jan. 5, 1928, provides opportunity for members of various professions to meet once a month for a catered dinner.
The main event of the evenings is the presentation by a member of a short paper, followed by a discussion.
The club's purpose is the sharing of insights and concerns of a wide variety of citizens from various professional backgrounds. Torch Clubs presentations have delved into such areas as current events, history, religion and ethics, education and science.
The Youngstown Torch Club is one of dozens throughout the United States and Canada.
Over the years Torch membership has included attorneys, clergy, YSU professors, newspaper editors, physicians and business owners, managers and entrepreneurs.
The current club includes members of all races, genders, religions and origins, both active in their professions and retired.
People interested in membership or in visiting one of the club's meetings may contact Torch secretary, Linda Porter, at (330) 792-7351 or Milton Norris at (330) 533-1210. The club meets the third Monday of each month from September through June.
