Duffel bag probed
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A suspicious duffel bag at the Lawrence Village Plaza turned out to contain boxes of shotgun shells and clothing. Shenango Township police received a report that a black duffel bag was found behind a bus bench about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called to check it out. They X-rayed the package and then used high-pressure water to open it in the parking lot, police said. They later determined the clothes and shells came from a store in the plaza; the items were returned to the store. It's not clear if they'd been stolen or just left outside.
