WEST LIBERTY vs. WALSH

Where: Fawcett Stadium, Canton.
Scouting report: Walsh (1-0) defeated Westminster, 28-26, in its season opener last week. Junior TB Derek Besgrove led the way with 192 yards rushing and four TDs. Besgrove was named the Mid-States Football Association Offensive Player of the Week. West Liberty (0-1) lost to Liberty, 36-7, in its opener last week.

HIRAM vs. BLUFFTON
When: Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
Where: Salzman Stadium, Bluffton.
Scouting report: Hiram (0-1) lost its season opener to Grove City, 30-7. John Pascarella (Ursuline), a senior safety, led the Terriers in tackles with 13. Junior safety Josh Smith scored Hiram's only TD on a 53-yard pass interception, while he also had eight tackles and recovered a fumble. Freshman LB Mike Erkkila had 10 tackles while freshman punter Mike Shafer averaged 37 yards on eight kicks, including a 48-yarder out of the end zone on his first attempt. Bluffton (0-1) dropped its season debut to Marietta, 28-27.
CARNEGIE MELLON vs. GROVE CITY
When: Saturday, 1 p.m.
Where: Robert E. Thorn Field, Grove City, Pa.
Scouting report: Carnegie Mellon (1-0) opened the season last week with a 31-9 rout of Bethany. Grove City (1-0) rolled past Hiram in its season opener, 30-7. Freshman free safety Ross Trimmer (Hickory) turned in his first collegiate pass interception. Trimmer was named one of two GCC Special Teams Player of the Week. Junior HB Steve Roberts accumulated 200 all-purpose yards, including a 42-yard kickoff return to open the game, and was named GCC Offensive Player of the Week.

GENEVA vs. THIEL

Where: Alumni Stadium, Greenville, Pa.
Scouting report: Thiel (0-1) Thiel lost in its first game to Malone, 13-9. Sophomore LB Robert Drake (Chaney) led Thiel in tackles with 14 stops, including 11 solo hits. Last year, Drake led Thiel in tackles with 86, including 32 unassisted. Geneva (0-1) was blanked in its debut by California (Pa.), 45-0. Four turnovers and 12 penalties in the first half pushed Geneva into a 24-0 halftime deficit. Geneva, which finished with five turnovers and 14 penalties (97 yards) was led by QB Ben Swallow (West Branch) with 101 yards passing and freshman Tom Contenta (New Brighton) with 14 tackles.

Scouting report: Slippery Rock (0-1) was defeated in its opener last week by Eastern Kentucky, 35-11. Gannon (1-1) is coming off a 36-26 win over Wingate.

Scouting report: Allegheny (0-1) was a 22-2 loser in its opener to Baldwin-Wallace. The Gators had two offensive standouts in junior Jon Turner, who caught six passes, and junior quarterback Bubba Smith, who threw for 196 yards. Washington & amp; Jefferson (1-0) romped to a 63-20 win over Ursinus in its debut last week. Todd Fry, a senior wide receiver, set the W & amp;J single-game school reception record with 10 catches for 156 yards. For Fry's feat, he was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
