BOARDMAN (3-0) vs. URSULINE (2-1)

Notebook: After beating Cleveland St. Ignatius and Chaney in successive weeks, the Spartans enter Steel Valley Conference play on a roll. Boardman senior quarterback Tom Zetts completed 13-of-21 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns in last Friday's 42-27 win over the Cowboys. Nick Burnett, Rob Perryman and Mike Villagrana are Zetts' main targets. The Spartans' defense has returned an interception for a touchdown each of the past two weeks and has been strong against the pass. But Boardman has allowed two straight 200-yard rushing performances and will face a tough challenge in Ursuline running backs Terrence Graves and Delbert Ferguson. Ferguson ran for 215 yards and three touchdowns in last week's 45-0 rout of Wilmington. Irish quarterback Daryll Clark has two good targets in tight end Louis Irizarry and wideout Isaiah Poindexter. Ursuline's only loss came on the road to Lakewood St. Edward, which is expected to contend for the Division I state title. Last year's game was a shootout and both teams should put up plenty of points.

CARDINAL MOONEY (2-1) vs. WARREN HARDING (3-0)
Game time: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Mollenkopf Stadium.
Last meeting: Warren Harding won 33-0 last year.
Notebook: If it wasn't for a forfeit victory over Ursuline last season, Mooney would have finished 0-10. This season, however, the Cardinals have started strong, winning their past two games -- over Shaker Heights (26-21) and East Cleveland Shaw (14-7). Mooney has gotten good play out of QB Ron Stoops, a variety of receivers and their running game, led by TB Patsy Malie and FB Bob McCabe. Last week against Shaw, the defense played well after giving up an 80-yard scoring drive to start the game, allowing just 99 yards the rest of the way. Harding is ranked No. 1 in the Division I state poll. Mike Phillips and Mike Kokal rotate at QB. The Raiders pulled out a 28-21 victory over Strongsville last week when Kokal found Treymayne Warfield on a 14-yard TD pass with 17 seconds remaining. They also have wins over Cleveland South (53-8) and Cleveland JFK (35-0).

POLAND (3-0) vs. CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC (2-1)
Game time: Saturday, 7:30 p.m. at Central Catholic High.
Last meeting: Poland won 24-14 last year.
Notebook: Poland has dominated its first three opponents (Springfield, Jefferson and Wilson), and now faces its first test of the season. Poland quarterback Sean Clayton (6-5) has hit 40 of 50 passes for 483 yards and 10 touchdowns. Speedy wideout Dave Koval has caught six touchdown passes and teams with Neil Harris to form one of the most dangerous kick return duos in the area. Harris had a 78-yard interception return in last week's 59-0 win over Wilson. Tailback Brandon Hardin has been strong running the ball for the Bulldogs, who might be better than last year's regional final team. Central Catholic has struggled since losing all-state quarterback Vince Gliatta to graduation. The Crusaders lost to Dover in the opener, then struggled to beat Carrollton and lowly Alliance. Sophomore quarterback Fred Harold had 150 yards rushing and four touchdowns against Alliance and added 63 yards passing. Junior wideout Bret Lilley and running backs Mark McCants and Nick Cayton lead the Crusaders offense. Central must play much better if it wants to keep this game close.

LEETONIA (2-1) vs. COLUMBIANA (3-0)
Game time: Saturday, 7:30 p.m. at Leetonia.
Last meeting: Columbiana won 42-7 last year.
Notebook: Columbiana-Leetonia football dates to the early 1900s and is one of Ohio's oldest rivalries. The Bears' first three games this season were against Inter-County League teams. After losing its season opener to McDonald 30-29, Leetonia bounced back with two straight victories and will host unbeaten Columbiana in Tri-County League action. Two weeks ago, Joe Jenkins of the Bears led the weekend leaders when he rushed for 174 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 28-7 win over Western Reserve. Last week, Leetonia trimmed Jackson-Milton 12-6. Jenkins scored on a 3-yard run. The Clippers have out-scored three opponents by a combined 71-16 margin with victories over LaBrae (13-7), Springfield Local (17-9) and Ashtabula Sts. John & amp; Paul (41-0).
