Driver faces multiple charges after chase that ends in crash

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Police said the theft of a lawn ornament led to a car chase that covered several miles and ended with a crash on Edgewood Drive in Transfer.
The chase began around 4 a.m. today when someone spotted two men stealing a lawn ornament from a yard along Pa. Route 846 in South Pymatuning Township.
A Greenville/West Salem officer spotted the car on Route 846 in West Salem Township, but the driver wouldn't stop and led police on a chase that went south on Good Hope Road and then south on Pa. Route 18 to Hermitage before the driver, identified as Adam Mroczkowski of Burgettstown, Pa., turned back north on Route 18. Police said he turned off Route 18 onto Edgewood Drive but then lost control and slid into a ditch at the intersection with Crestview Drive.
No one was injured.
Mroczkowski was charged by Greenville police with numerous traffic violations as well as fleeing and eluding and recklessly endangering another person.
South Pymatuning police charged him and his passenger, Paul W. Cramer, 19, of Ohl Street, Greenville, with theft. They faced arraignment today.
