COITSVILLE Charges filed in theft try

The suspect has done this in other jurisdictions, reports show.
COITSVILLE -- An Austintown man has admitted to police here that he posed as a Fraternal Order of Police member to solicit money.
Christopher A. Barone, 31, of Madrid Drive, is charged with two counts of attempted theft.
He turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
After receiving complaints last week about suspicious activity, Coitsville Lt. Allan P. Morris notified local businesses to be on the lookout for a man posing as an FOP member and gave a description of a vehicle being used.
Morris also notified surrounding police departments.
Morris later received a call from Boardman police, advising him that they had arrested Barone for the same type of offense about one year ago and that he was still on probation.
Other arrests
Salem police contacted Morris and let him know that they, too, had arrested Barone on the same offense and that he may still be on probation there.
An Austintown detective then contacted Coitsville Chief George W. Hahn with the same information. Austintown suggested Hahn check to see if Barone is still on probation to the county court.
On Tuesday, Morris called Barone's mother, who brought her son to the Coitsville police station.
During an interview, Barone gave Morris the name of an accomplice who lives in Boardman, reports show. Morris made contact with the man and expected to interview him today.
Barone was expected to be arraigned today in Campbell Municipal Court.
