Board approves bank's request for sign
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Citizens Bank will be allowed to put a 70-square-foot sign on the exterior wall of Hermitage Towne Plaza.
City zoning regulations limit the total size of signs on any exterior commercial wall to 200 square feet and the entire front of the plaza is considered a single wall, said Nathan Zampogna, city zoning officer. The front of the plaza already has more than 1,000 square feet of signs because of all the businesses there.
That meant the bank, which is inside the Giant Eagle store, would need a zoning variance from the Hermitage Zoning Hearing Board to add another, he said.
The variance request actually came from Erie Sign Corp. of Erie, Pa., which wants to erect a wall sign for the bank measuring just over 21 feet by 3 feet.
Zampogna said the board held a hearing on the request Monday and approved the variance.
