Woman grabbed
WARREN -- A Kenilworth N.E. woman told police that someone grabbed her and attempted to burglarize her home.
The 31-year-old said she heard a noise at the back door of her home around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. She went to look and opened the door, and was grabbed and dragged outside. She screamed and fought with the intruder, who fled.
Man robs store
NILES -- Police are searching for a man who entered the South Main Street Dairy Mart and demanded money.
A man in his early 20s came in Sunday night with his hand under his shirt as if he had a weapon. He was wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt, blue cut-off shorts with oil spots and a navy ski mask.
He's described as 5 feet, 5-to-8 inches tall and 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
The clerk told police she gave him five $1 bills.
The man told the clerk to open the other register, but she told him there was no money in the register.
The man took the money from the counter and fled.
Hydrant testing
HOWLAND -- The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer and the Howland Township Fire Department will be testing fire hydrants for the next three to four days.
The tests may result in low water pressure and discoloration.
Going to Somerset
WARREN --Workers and volunteers from the Trumbull Chapter of the American Red Cross will drive the agency's emergency response vehicle to the Wednesday memorial service in Somerset, Pa., to honor people who died last year on Flight 93, which crashed near Somerset.
Baron Vance, Red Cross mass care worker, and Christinia Paul, emergency services specialist, will drive the van.
Deadline for classes
WARREN -- The final date for entering the Catholic Religious Awards classes at Blessed Sacrament School is Thursday.
Half-way there
NILES -- The Trumbull County division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish Catholic heritage organization, will sponsor a Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day celebration.
The event Sept. 20 at McMenamy's on Youngstown-Warren Road will include entertainment by That Irish Band and traditional Irish stepdancing by dancers from the Burke School of Dance.
Admission is $15, which includes hors d'oeuvres.
Tickets are available at the door.
Proceeds go to support the AOH's 2003 scholarship program.
