KEYSTONE CLIPS Agriculture education loans forgiven under program

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency is accepting applications for the Agriculture Education Loan Forgiveness Program, according to Pa. state Rep. Frank LaGrotta of Ellwood City, D-10th.
The program is designed to assist eligible agriculture and veterinary medicine graduates in repaying their students loans by forgiving a maximum of $2,000 of PHEAA-administered, federally insured student loans for each year the borrower is employed full time in an agricultural field within Pennsylvania.
There is a $10,000 maximum in forgiveness payments.
The application deadline is Nov. 16.

A dead issue?
Organizers of a forum to explain the newly proposed form of government for Lawrence County were looking for a convenient time to host it.
The time they chose gave Lawrence County Commissioner Roger DeCarbo a chance to flash his sense of humor.
The forum will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at the First Presbyterian Church on Jefferson Street.
DeCarbo, a funeral director, apparently thinks the government change issue has no chance at the polls.
He said he thought the forum times were appropriate, because they're the usual calling hours for the dead.
