Dentist being honored
Dr. Ralph E. Snelson of Warren will receive the 2002 Ohio Dental Association Distinguished Dentist Award, the association's highest honor, Friday in Columbus.
A member of organized dentistry since he graduated from Ohio State University's College of Dentistry in 1961, Dr. Snelson has served the profession at all levels, including a term as ODA president and current chairman of the ODA Foundation.
His nomination from the Corydon Palmer Dental Society, one of the 25 ODA component societies in Ohio, called Dr. Snelson a "cheerleader and positive force for organized dentistry."
Highlights of Snelson's service to dentistry include Ohio Dental Political Action Committee chairman, ODA caucus chairman, American Dental Association PAC Committee and president of Corydon Palmer Dental Society.
He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Academy of General Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon professional fraternity.
Dr. Snelson served as campaign chairman in 2000 for United Way of Trumbull County, the 100 For the Future of Trumbull County president from 1998-2000, and on the boards of 2 North Park, Trumbull Lifelines, SCOPE, the Boy Scouts, Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Christ Episcopal Church Foundation.
The Distinguished Dentist Award honors those who have shown dedication to their profession and organized dentistry through service.

New chiropractor
Brian Joseph Miles, son of Joan Bako Miles of McDonald and William H. Miles of Howland, recently received his doctor of chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Ill.
Dr. Miles is a graduate of McDonald High School, attended Ohio State University, and graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor of science degree in biology.
While at National, he also earned a bachelor of science degree in human biology.
He was class president and was recognized in the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
