YOUNGSTOWN -- The Salvation Army's "Spiritual Invasion 2002" evangelism program will be next weekend.
New ministries and events have been added for the third year of the outdoor program at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave. The events include:
Friday at 7 p.m.: "Taking a Deeper Look." The speakers are Capts. Steven and Teresa Blessing, pastors of The Salvation Army in Ellwood City, Pa. Teens will meet with Cornell Jordan, who will help them take a deeper look at their spiritual lives. Jordan is the youth director of the Ravenna Assembly of God Church. He's a social worker employed at Portage County Job and Family Services who works primarily with troubled youths.
Sept. 14, 1 to 4 p.m.: The Robinson Brothers of Youngstown will sing. There will be a kids choir, personal testimonies, a brass band, sacred dance, balloon launch and a mime troupe. Refreshments will be available. On Sept. 15, the 11 a.m. worship service will feature the Southside Praise and Worship Team from the Adult Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh. Jordan will speak.
The Salvation Army on Glenwood is pastored by Capts. Douglas and Stella McGuire and Youth Pastor Karen Bycroft.
Quilts for 9/11 kids
AUSTINTOWN -- After a Sept. 11 Mass at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in New York, Kathleen Price of Youngstown, the founder and director of the Mission of Love Foundation, will distribute more than 300 quilts to children who lost loved ones in the attacks on the World Trade Center last year. Price collected the quilts from throughout the world via the Internet. The Tepeyac Association in New York assisted her in finding recipients.
Baptist courses offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- The local unit of the American Baptist College will begin the fall semester with registration and orientation at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Eastern Ohio Baptist Association Building. Courses will be offered from 6 to 9:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Courses include: General Epistles, English Grammar, Old Testament Survey. Second Year: History of the Black Church, Life and Teachings of Christ. Third Year: Studies of the New Testament Theology; Cults, Sects and Isms; Education of Youth. Call (330) 746-5580.
Bible conference
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Bethany Fellowship of churches will conduct a joint Bible Conference nightly from Sunday evening through Wednesday evening. Dr. W. David Warren, state representative of the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches, will speak. Besides pastoring locally at the Champion Baptist Church (1968-1974), Dr. Warren has taught and also serves as a trustee at Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
The conference will use the round-robin format and meet in a different church for each service. The Sunday evening service will begin at 6 p.m., and the weeknight services will begin at 7 p.m. The locations are: Sunday: First Baptist Church of Niles. Monday: Leavittsburg Baptist Church. Tuesday: Poland Village Baptist Church. Wednesday: Bailey Road Baptist Church. The Bethany Fellowship is a fellowship of about 18 Baptist churches in the Valley. Moody classes offered
WARREN -- Moody Bible Institute College and adult continuing education classes are being offered.
Bible Introduction: Evidences That the Bible is the Word of God is from Monday to Dec. 9 at Grace Baptist Church, Warren. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. and classes start at 6 p.m.

Members to be honored
YOUNGSTOWN -- On Sunday, Tabernacle Baptist Church will honor senior members who are the lifeline of the church. The theme is "Pillars of History: Living Legends of Faith." The guest preacher for the 10:45 a.m. service will be the Rev. James Jennings Sr., pastor of New True Vine Baptist Church, Detroit. At 4 p.m., guest preacher will be Elder Emmitt L. Nevels Sr., pastor of Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ In Youngstown and New Beginning Church of God In Christ in Kent, which he organized in 1960.
Women's day program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Lincoln Avenue Christian Church's Women's Ministry Day will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Wyleeia McCrary of St. John A.M.E. Church and congregation are guests.
Mission speakers

Programs scheduled
COLUMBIANA -- First United Methodist Church will have a family fun night from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14 at Firestone Park Pavilion to kick off the fall Sunday school program. On Sept. 15, members will be asked to invite friends without churches to the 8:45 or 10:40 a.m. services. Guests will receive informational packets. Refreshments will follow both services.
Education day
WARREN -- Second Baptist Church will observe its 12th Annual Christian Education Day at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael E. Rutledge of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church in Steubenville. Certificates will be awarded to students who completed the school of religion and adult Sunday school studies. A reception will followthe service.
Rally Day
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Emmanuel Lutheran Church will resume Sunday school hours Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with worship at 10:45 a.m. After the service, the Rally Day Picnic will have clowns, games, a dunk tank and more. People should bring a covered dish to share.
Satellite program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Christ Church Presbyterian will host a Satellite Seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the church. The topic will be "Half-time: Training Your Leaders to Move From Success to Significance." For registration information, call (330) 782-2611.
Singer to perform
HUBBARD -- Lowell Mason will appear at Corner House Christian Church at 7 p.m. Friday. He has been called the World's Smallest Gospel Singer because he is 46 inches tall. A full-time evangelist, Lowell travels nearly 100,000 miles each year taking the gospel in song and sermon across America and the world. The concert will also feature "Gospel Music Branson Style." An offering will be taken.
Recovery program
