Day of renewal
CANFIELD -- The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will have a Charismatic Day of Renewal with the theme "Growing in Holiness" on Sept. 28 at the Ursuline Center. Prayer, praise, worship, talks, reconciliation and Mass will be offered, and lunch will be served. The keynote speaker is Peter Herbeck, vice president and director of Renewal Ministries, a lay organization devoted to international Catholic renewal and evangelization. He will speak on the topics "The Chosen Race: Holy By His Choice," "Royal Priesthood: Minister of Reconciliation" and "Holy Nation: Empowered Forever."
Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be presiding for the morning prayer and homily. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., concluding Mass at 4 p.m. The cost is $20 and includes lunch if preregistered. Call (330) 788-5537.

GIRARD -- Girard First United Methodist Church is inviting the community to visit the church Sunday mornings this month as part of its "Check Us Out" program. Services begin at 10:45 a.m. and will be followed by an open house. Education day
WARREN -- Second Baptist Church will observe its 12th Annual Christian Education Day at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael E. Rutledge of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church in Steubenville. Certificates will be awarded to students who completed the school of religion and adult Sunday school studies. Rally Day
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Emmanuel Lutheran Church will resume Sunday school hours Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with worship at 10:45 a.m. After the service, the Rally Day Picnic will have clowns, games, a dunk tank and more. People should bring a covered dish to share.

Singer to perform
HUBBARD -- Lowell Mason will appear at Corner House Christian Church at 7 p.m. Friday. He has been called the World's Smallest Gospel Singer because he is 46 inches tall. A full-time evangelist, Lowell travels nearly 100,000 miles each year taking the gospel in song and sermon across America and the world. The concert will also feature "Gospel Music Branson Style." An offering will be taken.
Recovery program
