LEETONIA Parking's OK on section of Columbia

Volunteers are needed Saturday to clean up Wick Park.
LEETONIA -- Motorists can now park on the north side of Columbia Street between Lisbon and Nold streets.
Village Administrator Gary Phillips said council voted Wednesday to allow parking in an area where parking has been limited and access to many homes is from alleys off Columbia.
Columbia Street is state Route 344 in the village and a main access road through town.
Phillips said that because Columbia Street is a main access road, parking will be limited to 72 hours at a time. Motorists also will not be allowed to park on the street during snow emergencies, he said.
He said the parking restrictions won't be a problem for most people; however, without restrictions some people might leave vehicles parked in one place for weeks at a time.
Park cleanup
In another matter, Phillips said the park board is seeking volunteers to work Saturday to clean up Wick Park.
He said anyone wishing to volunteer should meet at the street department garage behind village hall at 8 a.m.
Phillips noted the park board is preparing the park for the upcoming artisans' festival.
The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at the park, which is on Walnut Street near the old high school.
