YSU School of business to honor 3 alumni



The banquet will be Friday.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three businessmen will receive Outstanding Alumni Awards from the Youngstown State University business school.
Being honored at an alumni banquet at 6 p.m. Friday at YSU's Kilcawley Center are Donald Graham, executive vice president with Fifth Third Bank; Larry Roberts, chief financial officer at Berlin Industries; and Bruce Sherman, president of Sherman Creative Promotions of Boardman.
The honorees
Graham will receive the outstanding business alumnus award. He earned a bachelor's degree from YSU in 1971 and later earned a master's degree in business administration from Xavier University.
He has worked for Cincinnati-based Fifth Third for 22 years and now is the manager of the consumer lending division and of community development in northeast Ohio.
Roberts, a 1998 YSU graduate, will be named the outstanding recent alumnus. A certified public accountant, Roberts was an executive with Anness, Gerlach and Williams of Youngstown before accepting his position at Berlin Industries of Berlin Center.
Roberts is a speaker at many business school programs, such as the Business 2020, Student Practitioner Day and Ohio Business Week.
Sherman, a certified public accountant and 1970 graduate, will receive the outstanding service award.
Sherman has served in a number of leadership positions with the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization and Youngstown Jewish Federation.
He is the board chairman for Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, board member of the YSU Alumni Society, a trustee for the Francis and Lillian Schermer Charitable Trusts, board treasurer for Interfaith Home Maintenance and member of the campaign cabinet of the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way Campaign.
