Youngstown men face charges after traffic stop
AUSTINTOWN -- Police said they arrested two Youngstown men after finding a handgun and suspected drugs in their possession early this morning in a car on Mahoning Avenue.
Dion Williams, 32, of Hill Street is charged with drug abuse and carrying a concealed weapon. Marvin Chambers, 29, also of Hill Street, is charged with driving under suspension and under the influence. Police said they both also could face drug charges.
Police said they stopped a car driven by Chambers at about 2:49 a.m. on Mahoning Avenue after they watched it weave in and out of traffic lanes. Reports state that Chambers smelled of alcohol when he spoke to police.
Chambers was arrested and the car was searched. Police said they found a handgun and a box that contained five bags of suspected marijuana and five suspected Vicodin pills in the car. A bag containing an unidentified powder also was in the box.
Police said Williams, who had been riding in the car, told them that he owned the gun and the box that contained the drugs.
Police also said they found eight suspected Vicodin pills in Chambers' pocket. Another passenger in the car was not charged.
