XNILES -- St. Stephen Church was the setting at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 for the wedding of Regina M. Pownell and Kevin T. Helmick.
The Rev. John Gubser officiated for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pownell Jr., 3555 Lyntz Road, Lordstown, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Granny Sr., 73 Summerberry Lane, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Helmick, 1845 Taft Ave.
A reception honoring the couple took place at McMenamy's, and they departed for a honeymoon trip to Hawaii.
They are living in Niles.
The bride wore a strapless ivory gown designed with red flowers embroidered on the bodice and hemline. Her cathedral-length veil was adorned with matching red flowers.
Angela Daugherty was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Kelley Cassidy, Michelle Cicero, Marie Granny, Gina Price and Sarah Matheny. They wore red gowns. Flower girl was Makenzie Price.
Best man was Phillip Stamper, and groomsmen were Joseph Altobelli, Mark Helmick, Jason Pagano, Todd Rindfuss and Kevin Weeks. Samuel, Chase and Cole Pownell were ring bearers, and ushers were Todd, Greg, Steve and Travis Pownell and Ronald Price.
A graduate of Youngstown State University where she is pursuing licensure in secondary education, the bride is a legal secretary with Schiavoni, Schiavoni & amp; Bush LPA in Austintown. She also is head cheerleading coach for Niles City Schools.
Mr. Helmick graduated from Ohio State University and is a police officer in Niles.
