NBA Miles helps Cavs beat his ex-mates in win over Clippers

Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored the game-winner as the Cavs, with new addition Darius Miles, won 98-96.
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Darius Miles made himself right at home at Andre Miller's expense.
Miles, swapped by the Clippers to Cleveland for Miller during the off-season, had 15 points and five rebounds against his former teammates Wednesday night as the Cavaliers spoiled Los Angeles' season opener with a 98-96 victory.
"It felt good out there, real good," Miles said. "I'm just trying to get my team into it, and my team played good. Ricky [Davis] and Zydrunas [Ilgauskas] played very well."
Davis scored 25 points and Ilgauskas had 19 points -- including the deciding jumper with 2.8 seconds remaining. Tyrone Hill added 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Cleveland coach John Lucas finished serving a two-game suspension. Assistant Jerry Eaves, who filled in for him, was very pleased after the win over Los Angeles.
"This was a good confidence-builder for the whole group," Eaves said. "This is all about improvement."
Miller plays well
Miller, the NBA assist leader at 10.9 a game last season, had 15 points and 14 assists in his first game for the Clippers, who haven't won a season opener since 1996.
"I was just trying to make plays, trying to get people the ball in the right places. It didn't really flow like I wanted it to, as far as getting the transition going and getting some easy points," he said. "We didn't make it easy on ourselves."
Michael Olowokandi added 18 points and 13 rebounds for Los Angeles, but missed two jumpers in the closing minute.
Los Angeles committed 17 turnovers to Cleveland's 10 and the Clippers looked out of synch, probably because they didn't have much of a chance to work together -- and get Miller used to his teammates -- during the pre-season because of various ailments.
Elton Brand, who went 0-for-6 and didn't play in the fourth quarter, is coming back from knee surgery. Olowokandi and Quentin Richardson also missed time during camp.
