OFFICE WARDROBE Tips for a remake
If your office culture calls for more conservative, corporate attire, don't despair. Here's some dressing-up advice from fashion experts:
MEN
The corporate suit can be versatile. After work, you can shed the jacket or the tie and jacket, and you have three different looks.
Jazz up a conservative suit with a bright colored shirt or a flashy tie.
WOMEN
Don't buy 10 suits; buy three, and change the look by switching accessories, including the blouse or shell underneath, as well as belts, shoes, scarves and jewelry.
If pants are more comfortable for traveling or for busy moms, by all means wear pantsuits, not jackets and skirts.
Consider a haircut or new makeup colors.
EVERYONE
People in sales should dress appropriately for the customer they are seeing, dress codes notwithstanding. So if you are going to a casual client, wear a sports jacket and slacks, not a suit.
Start your wardrobe with at least one good-quality, versatile suit. But if you own suits, don't necessarily buy new ones. Instead, buy new shirts or accessories to spruce them up.
Buy clothes that are comfortable and that make you feel good about yourself.
If you feel utterly confused about what to buy, consult a personal shopper at a store. The services are usually free.
