NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- These Jameson Health System facilities will be X-raying Halloween candy for metal objects from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday: Mohawk Community Health Center, 341 Mohawk School Road; New Wilmington HealthPlace, 138 S. Market St.; Jameson X-Ray and Lab at 2520 Wilmington Ave. A parent or guardian must sign a release for the candy to be X-rayed.
Antiques appraisal fair
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Learn the value of your collectibles and support the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls at an antiques and collectibles appraisal affair, 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Falls High School commons area. General admission is $5 and that includes one appraisal. Each additional appraisal is $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door and at the library. The library requests that no large items be brought in. Instead, people are asked to bring photographs and a removable piece, such as a drawer, from a large item. Cave exploration
SLIPPERY ROCK -- Explore the world of caves at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Jennings Environmental Education Center. Tom and Kim Metzgar and Neal Krause of the Mid-Atlantic Karst Conservancy will share their firsthand knowledge of caves and discuss the equipment of caving and the safety factors, wildlife and conservation of caves in western Pennsylvania.
OK for mammography
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The medical imaging department at Jameson Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology. Accreditation is given after a peer-review evaluation by physicians and medical physicists.
Arthritis Support Group
BUTLER, Pa. -- The Butler Arthritis Support Group has canceled its Nov. 6 meeting. The program about juvenile arthritis will be rescheduled. The next support group meeting will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 21. It will feature a video on total joint replacement, osteoporosis and managing arthritis.
