Deliberations begin in murder trial

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County Common Pleas Court jury started deliberations Wednesday afternoon in the murder trial of Christopher Scott.
Scott, 23, is accused in the January 1997 murder of Lori Townsend, 16. She was an ex-girlfriend of Scott's.
This is Scott's second trial on the charges.
In December 1997, a Mahoning County Common Pleas jury found him guilty.
Judge Maureen Cronin sentenced Scott to life in prison, but the 7th District Court of Appeals overturned the conviction and ordered a new trial.
Judge Cronin is again hearing the case.
