School board moves on athletic facility

NEW WILMINGTON -- Plans are in the works to improve athletic facilities in the Wilmington Area School District.
The school board agreed Tuesday to hire Eckles Architecture of New Castle to draw up plans for the athletic facility additions and alterations.
The board told Robert Naugle of Eckles that they would like to have included in the plans, a varsity field for football and soccer with the option of grass or artificial surface, three practice fields and a field house.
Architectural fees are estimated at 7 percent of the total project cost.
In other business, Acting Superintendent Dr. C. Joyce Nicksick presented board president Richard Houlette with a framed certificate from the Pennsylvania School Board Association for his 15 years of service as a school board member.
