GREENVILLE UPMC presents remodeled ER
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon will have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to show the public its remodeled emergency department at its Greenville hospital.
There will be a display of photographs of the new facilities, a brief tour and refreshments. Visitors to the open house should enter through the main lobby.
The overall department has been expanded from 5,000 to 10,000 square feet and features separate public walk-in and ambulance/pre-hospital care entrances, an expanded waiting room and a new central nursing station.
All patient rooms are private and equipped with a centralized cardiac monitor, and the department has a new digital radiological viewing system that will speed up diagnosis and treatment.
The department is even equipped with a decontamination tent and personal protective equipment for treating patients exposed to hazardous materials.
"Our new emergency department was designed with the patient as our focus, as it should be," said Dr. Jeffrey Moldovan, medical director of emergency services.
