AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that someone stole the driver's license of a Country Ridge man and used it to obtain a credit card.
The man told police Monday that $1,376 has been charged on the card. He said his license was stolen during the spring at the University of Toledo.
Man struck by bullet
YOUNGSTOWN -- Shots fired from a car that stopped on Otis Street on Monday afternoon sailed through a bedroom window and hit two cars in the parking lot of the apartment complex, reports show. Police collected about 20 casings from two guns.
Deron Gilbert, 21, of West Judson, was hit in the leg as he stood in the parking lot; he was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center. The owner of one of the cars happened to be inside it during the gunfire. He ducked down just as a bullet passed through his rear window and entered the headliner above his seat, police said.
Police have the identity of three suspects.
Trash cleanup
YOUNGSTOWN -- There will be a neighborhood cleanup between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday in the 6th Ward on the South Side.
Residents are asked to put tires and trash on the sidewalks, clean up in front of their properties, join with neighbors to clean up adjacent vacant lots and help elderly residents.
The neighborhoods where trash will be cleaned up are the 200 blocks of Auburndale, Avondale, Boston, Hilton, Judson, Lucius and Ravenwood; the 200 and 300 blocks of Florida and Philadelphia; the 300 block of Cornell and Marmion; the 300 and 400 blocks of Dewey, Laclede and Pasadena; the 400 block of Miller; the 3300 to 3600 block of Erie; and Emery between Erie and South.
Model Railroad Club
SEBRING -- The Sebring Model Railroad Club will have its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16, 17, 23 and 24.
The club has one of the largest and most complete model railroads in Northeast Ohio and has been in existence continuously since 1948. It's at 216 E. Pennsylvania Ave., in what was originally the Pennsylvania Railroad Sebring Freight Station.
Visitors can see and hear the steam locomotives as they thunder out of the tunnels and across the bridges. Admission is $2 for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free.
Refreshments will be available.
Handgun in car
CAMPBELL -- Police recovered a fully loaded handgun hidden under the driver's seat of a car towed from Oxford Street about 8:30 a.m. Monday.
The car, a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina, was parked illegally and was towed after police discovered it had fictitious license plates.
Police were called to the scene because several illegally parked vehicles made it difficult for school buses to travel in the area.
Horror film at library
WARREN -- The silent 1926 horror film "The Bells" will be screened with live musical accompaniment at 2 p.m. Sunday at the main branch of the Warren-Trumbull Public Library.
The film stars Lionel Barrymore as an innkeeper who murders a wealthy traveler only to be tormented by his conscience.
Annual auction
GIRARD -- The St. Rose Home and School Association has its annual auction set from 6 to 11 p.m. Nov. 9 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 and bidding will begin at 7 p.m. The auctioneer will be George Roman Auctioneer & amp; Realty.
Bird seed availableat Howland Park
HOWLAND -- TAMPEEL will again sell bird seed at Howland Park, interim site for the program.
The seed will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and again Dec. 7 and Jan. 18.
