Benefit haunted house
BOARDMAN -- The loud and frightening sounds you hear coming from the Southern Park Mall parking lot are not in your imagination. They're coming from a 24-room haunted house outside Chili's at Market Street and U.S. Route 224, which will benefit the American Cancer Society. The house is open nightly from 6 p.m.-midnight through Nov. 2, and tickets are available at the door at $10 for adults and $5 for children, 12 and under. Proceeds will go toward the Home Depot Relay for Life Team. The relay will be May 16 and 17 on the track at Boardman Center Middle School. Employees of Home Depot and Chili's volunteered their time and materials to build the temporary haunted house, where local high school drama club students are volunteering as ghouls, ghosts and monsters.
