Community help
The Good Shepherd Center, a nonprofit agency formed by more than a dozen churches to help the economically disadvantaged in the greater Greenville, Pa., area, operates a variety of programs with six paid staff members and 270 volunteers. Those programs include:
Food pantry: Providing free food items to 300 families a month.The Clothes Closet: Sells good-quality clothing at affordable prices.Treasures: Sells good-quality donated household items.Hot meals: Provides a hot meal and fellowship to an average 125 people on the first and third Monday of each month September through May and every Monday June through August.Night shelter: Provides emergency temporary housing.Free clinic: Open Tuesday evenings for those without insurance who meet specific income guidelines.Growth opportunity seminars: Teaches personal growth and self-reliance.
Christmas toy and food distribution: Provides aid to 330 families.
