Damage from fire
NILES -- Fire struck a local business and attached residence, causing extensive damage.
No one was injured in the 4:35 a.m. Saturday fire at the Niles Roofing & amp; Heating Co. at 402 W. Park Ave. The cause is unknown.
Niles Firefighter Ben Reed said store owner Bill Pirigyi and his wife were asleep in their home when firefighters arrived. The firefighters roused them and helped them get out before the fire spread to the living area.
The home suffered minor damage but damage to the business was extensive, Reed said. "He's had that business in the community for quite a while so it's unfortunate," the firefighter said.
Firefighters were at the scene for more than three hours.
