Winner again alters plans for giveaway

SHARON, Pa. -- Businessman James E. Winner Jr. has again altered plans for his Saturday money giveaways during October designed to bring people into the downtown business district.
Winner started the giveaway two weeks ago by shooting money and discount coupons (good at any of the Winner stores) off the roof of The Winner building at 32 W. State St.
The plan changed last Saturday, when people were required to line up to receive a "mystery envelope" in front of the Winner that might contain cash, gift certificates to Winner businesses or discount coupons for Winner stores.
Today, Winner said people will be asked to register at a table in front of The Winner from 10 a.m. to noon, but the "Love America Drawings," as he is calling today's event, won't be until 2 p.m. in front of the Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 50 N. Water Ave., located in the parking lot behind The Winner.
All winners must be present.
Cash prizes will total $1,000, including the grand cash prize, which is $500. Gift certificates will total more than $1,000; the grand certificate prize is an overnight stay at Tara, A Country Inn.
The Sharon Fun Money discount coupons for Winner stores will be included with every prize.
All registrants must be at least 18 and must wear red, white and blue clothing. Registration is limited to one per person.
