DISTRICT ROUNDUP Beaver Local rushes past Wellsville in 44-8 victory



WELLSVILLE -- The Beaver Local High football team improved to 8-1 Friday by coasting past Wellsville, 44-8.
The Beavers are the number two team in Division III, Region 9 of this week's computer playoff rating.
The Beavers rushed for 268 yards, led by Matt Dujakyla and Gordon Williams with 70 yards each. Jake Robinson had two touchdowns while Williams and Jeremy Shaw each rushed for one.
Dave Kinsey booted a 25-yard field goal, six extra points and also caught a 1-yard pass for a score from Derek Smith.
Wellsville, 1-8, scored in the final quarter on a two-yard run by Dustin Emsinger. Wellsville had 139 total yards while 77 of them came in the final period.
Northwest 14, West Branch 13
CANAL FULTON -- Mac Griffin scored touchdowns on runs of 19 and 5 yards Friday to lead the Northwest High football team to a 14-13 victory over West Branch.
Griffin rushed for 89 yards on 19 carries for Northwest (8-1, 5-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Cody Butzer gained 82 yards on 24 carries.
Josh Venables caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Nate Greenawalt to put the Warriors (5-4, 4-3) ahead 7-0.
Josh Davis put West Branch ahead 13-7 with a 53-yard run, but the conversion pass failed. Davis finished with 148 yards on 23 carries.
Mogadore 17, Southeast 7
RAVENNA -- Mogadore remained on top of the Portage County League standings at 7-0 and it is 8-1 overall.
Southeast (6-3, 5-2) stayed close and finally scored in the fourth quarter as Butler caught a 48-yard TD pass from Herndon.
