YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay 1-0 Thursday.
At 38 minutes, 28 seconds, of the first half, UW-GB's (4-62, 1-0-2 Horizon League) Sarah Oligney scored on a breakaway off an assist from Catherine Kadar.
YSU (1-12, 0-3) was outshot 28-6 and outcornered 10-0. Penguins goalkeeper Caitlin Bestard had nine saves. Jessica Yarter and Katie Bollinger attempted two shots each.
YSU was scheduled to play host to Akron today at 4.

Midland tourneys
MIDLAND, Pa. -- Mark Schmidt, basketball coach at Robert Morris University, will be the speaker for the Midland Basketball Association Tip-Off Dinner Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Anthony Club, 561 Beaver Ave.
Tickets cost $15.
The association's fifth tournament is set Nov. 29-30 at Midland High featuring Blackhawk, Canon McMillan, Springfield and East Liverpool.
The association will also sponsor a girls shootout on Dec. 14 with Oakland Catholic, Moon, Blackhawk, Mt. Lebanon, Greensburg Catholic and Poland.

HOWLAND -- The Niles at Howland girls Div. I sectional soccer match Saturday will be played at 1 p.m. and not at 7 p.m. as previously listed.
Irizarry nominated
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline High senior Louis Irizarry has been nominated to the Riddell Footwear High School All-American Football Team.
The tight end, who has verbally committed to Ohio State, was one of 10 players nationwide named to the team this week at that position.
Other tight ends nominated include Tony Hills Jr. (Texas), Greg Olsen (New Jersey), Chris Barrett (California), Vernon Davis (Washington D.C.), Jonathan Stupar (State College, Pa.), Will Paul (Missouri), Garrett Bushong (Michigan), Josh Barbo (Kansas) and Josh Mueller (Nebraska).
Nominations for the 23-member team are announced biweekly by position. Final team selections will be made in January.

* LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Jeff Sluman shot a bogey-free 9-under par 63 to grab a three-way share of the lead after the first round at the Disney World Classic.
Amid perfect conditions, Hidemichi Tanaka made 10 birdies to tie Sluman and Bob Burns, who is 118th on the money list and needs a good week to secure his PGA Tour card for next year.
Tiger Woods, playing for the first time since the Ryder Cup, was in a large group at 66.
* VIRGINIA WATER, England -- Colin Montgomerie defeated Fred Funk 3 and 2 in their 36-hole first-round match at the World Match Play Championship.

* ZURICH, Switzerland -- Alexandra Stevenson smacked 16 aces to knock off fifth-seeded Jelena Dokic 7-6 (6), 4-6, 7-5 to reach the Swisscom Challenge quarterfinals.
* BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Second-seeded Meghann Shaughnessy pulled out of her match at the VUB Open because of a stomach ache, one of five seeded players exiting.
