STRUTHERS City urges public to use its Web site

Residents can access city council e-mail addresses through the site.
STRUTHERS -- Is there a city issue that's keeping you up at night?
Or do you just keep forgetting to call city hall and ask when trick-or-treating hours are?
The city is trying to let residents know that they can access information and city council members any time of day with the touch of a keystroke. A Struthers Web site has been up for about a year, but many residents still are unaware of it or of the amount of information available, said Mayor Daniel C. Mamula.
Visit www.cityofstruthers.com for information on "Living in Struthers," "Economic development," "Visiting Struthers" and "City Hall & amp; Government."
Each category provides dozens of links, such as community events, maps, entertainment, tax forms and city council e-mail addresses.
Communication
"They [council members] want it to be used," said Detective Simone Ugolini, who designed and maintains the site. "They want to communicate with people via e-mail when it's appropriate, but no one knows it's out there."
The site, Mamula said, gives residents convenient access to information that might save a phone call or trip to city hall.
With cyberspace, anyone can contact city council without ever taking time to write and mail a letter, the mayor said, or find details on ordinances, resolutions and regulations.
"It's a great communication tool once people get used to the idea," Mamula said.
