Talks on school funding
Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana county residents are urged to attend two meetings on school funding:
7 p.m. next Monday in the Jackson-Milton High School gymnasium, 10748 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson, sponsored by North Jackson Citizens' Association. William Phillis, Salem native and executive director of Ohio's Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding, will discuss the Ohio Supreme Court's DeRolph decision, Ohio's heavy reliance on property taxes and unfunded mandates.
7 p.m. Oct. 23 panel discussion and question-and-answer session at Boardman Performing Arts Center at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., sponsored by Boardman-Canfield-Poland Joint Community Forum on Ohio School Funding. Keynote speaker will be Richard Maxwell of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators.
