Lewis anniversary celebrated during dinner party, trip
WARREN -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis of Warren was celebrated Sept. 21 during an evening dinner party held in the fellowship hall of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, where they are members.
Invitations for the festivity were issued by the couple's family, William D. Lewis and his wife, Joyce O'Connell, of Girard; Robert Lewis of Bristol; and Cindy and Charles Phelps of Jefferson. The couple also have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The celebration was continued during a family trip to Frankenmuth and Mackinaw Island, Mich.
The former Mary Pate and Mr. Lewis were united in marriage Sept. 20, 1952, at the Tod Avenue church.
Mr. Lewis retired from the Ohio Edison Co. in 1993. He was an original member of Insta Credit Union, for which he also served as president and then treasurer for a total of 34 years. He is on the audit committee of Greater Warren Federal Community Credit Union and serves as usher and trustee at the church.
Mrs. Lewis retired in 1990 from Warren Board of Education after 27 years of service. She held various secretarial positions at the board office, Warren Western Reserve High School and other area schools. She was president of Trumbull American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees, serves on the board of Rebecca Williams Community Center, and is treasurer of the church and president of its United Methodist Women.
