Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt Sr. mark golden anniversary at dinner

AUSTINTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt Sr. of 3947 Lake Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner buffet Sept. 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in McDonald.
The event had a Hawaiian theme, and hosts were the couple's children and their spouses, Paul Jr. and Carol Schmidt of Canfield, Terri and Bill Gifford of Diamond and Robin Guzzo of Austintown, and Mr. Schmidt's sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Luarde of McDonald.
Mr. Schmidt and the former Marylou Gries were married Sept. 22, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Youngstown, where they are members. He served as a medic with the 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean War and retired in 1982 from Youngstown Sheet & amp; Tube Co., where he worked in flat rolled product sales. He is a member of the Youngstown Sheet & amp; Tube Donator's Club.
His wife retired in 1999 from Austintown Fitch High School, where she worked as a cook. She belongs to the church's Ladies Aid Society and a card club.
The Schmidts also belong to the church's Upbeats Club.
