Women's conference
FARRELL, Pa. -- New & amp; Living Way Apostolic Women of the Word presents the 13th annual Women's Conference at 927 Lee Ave. The theme is: "That I May Know Him"
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, the guest speaker will be Lora Adams-King of the Erie Street Church of God in Franklin, Pa. Next Saturday, there will be a seminar with sessions for ages 12 to 25. The guest speaker will be Pastor Judy Yost of Morning Star Church in Grove City, Pa. At 6 p.m. that day, the guest speaker will be Lisa McCoy of New & amp; Living Way Apostolic Church.
Grants awarded
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Office of Social Action of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has awarded money locally to Operation Rice Bowl for hunger relief and Catholic Campaign for Human Development grants for social justice efforts.
Seventy-five percent of the funds received in both annual local collections are forwarded to the national office of Catholic Relief Services/Operation Rice Bowl and the National Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
In 2002, local Catholics contributed $77,533 to Operation Rice Bowl. Locally, the Office of Social Action granted $19,950, its local 25 percent share, to various groups.
By county, the amounts were Ashtabula $3,300; Columbiana, $2,700; Mahoning, $5,100; Portage, $3,400; Trumbull, $2,000; Stark, $3,450.
Some $14,000, or 25 percent of the total Campaign for Human Development funds, have been distributed locally. The amounts by county, are Ashtabula, $5,000; Mahoning, $4,000; Stark, $2,000; Trumbull, $1,000; Portage, $2,000.
Women's committee
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Committee on Women's Issues in the Church has been revived in the six-county Diocese of Youngstown with 21 members being named.
The purpose of the committee is to serve as a consultative body to promote the spirituality of Catholic women in accord with church teachings and traditions, plan and promote programs or forums on women's issues in accord with church documents and Gospel values, and support and collaborate with other women's organizations in the church.

Director named
YOUNGSTOWN -- Brother Dominic Calabro of the Society of St. Paul was appointed Pastoral director of the Catholic Television Network of Youngstown (CTNY) by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin effective Sept. 3.
The pastoral director provides direction to productions and theological insight in the evaluation and development of programs at CTNY. He oversees the ETC/CTNY program schedule; acquires new programing; produces, directs and edits productions from the CTNY studio and events at St. Columba cathedral; and encourages development of telecommunications as a church ministry. He was executive producer for CTNY from 1986-96.
Youth fest scheduled
NORTH LIMA -- The Youth Fest 2002 sponsored by the Beaver Clergy Association will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 at South Range High School. The $5 admission includes pizza and soft drinks. It will include a concert by alternative Christian rock band Know Peace and entertainment and testimony by former drug addict K.P. Westmoreland, founder and president of Y.E.S. Ministries. Service changed
NORTH LIMA -- The Saturday Church at Glenellen, 9661 Market St., has changed its worship hour from 7 to 3:30 p.m. The request for change came from two sources: people who do not drive at night, and those who have family plans on Saturday evening. The newly-launched Saturday-only church is designed as an alternative for those who have other commitments on Sunday. Communion is celebrated at each service.
President to speak
LIBERTY -- David Zanotti, president of The Ohio Roundtable, and The Ohio Freedom Forum will speak at 10 a.m. Sunday at First Christian Assembly. The Ohio Roundtable is a nonprofit, nonpartisan education and research organization. The Ohio Freedom Forum is a citizen-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting positive alternative in public policy. Zanotti has been the host of The Public Square radio program since 1989 that provides daily news and commentary on 22 stations in Ohio and surrounding states.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Canaan Missionary Baptist Church will have a 25th Pre-Pastoral Anniversary Service for Pastor Cornelius Booker Sr. at 4 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Walter Humphrey, pastor of the New Joshua Baptist Church in Cleveland.

The church will offer a healing prayer service at 7 p.m. Oct. 20. The service is for those in need of physical, spiritual, emotional or relational healing. Time will be allowed for personal ministry.

Programs at Trinity
NILES -- Trinity Lutheran Church is offering two programs.
The Tender Loving Care Play Group for children up to age 4 will be offered from 10:30 a.m. until noon Thursdays starting this Thursday. Call (330) 652-6078.
The church will also have an open house for a guided stained-glass window tour in conjunction with Trinity's 82nd Anniversary. The tour will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 3. A fellowship will follow.
