VOLLEYBALL Salem adds to MAC streak



Fitch, Springfield, Hubbard and Girard won league contests.
SALEM -- The Salem High volleyball team stretched its Metro Athletic Conference win streak to 12 matches over two seasons with a 15-1, 15-10 win Thursday over Canfield.
Lauren Teal collected seven kills, a tip and a block, while Kelli Crouse had three aces, four kills and a block for the Quakers (18-4, 10-0 MAC).
Megan Sampson had four aces, a kill and a block and Taylor Hendricks added five kills for Salem.
Last year, Canfield (10-12, 6-4) defeated Salem in two sets to pin the first league loss on the Quakers in six seasons.
Fitch 15-15, Warren Harding 1-7
WARREN -- Rachel Terzak scored eight points and had six kills for Fitch (17-4, 6-1 Steel Valley Conference). Jenn Dabison had five blocks.
Tasha Davis scored five points, wile Jenna Simon had 11 assists and Sharino Freeman had three kills for the Raiders (5-15, 2-4).
Springfield 15-9-15,South Range 10-15-9
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Carrie Davis had eight points, 13 kills and four blocks, Lindsay Johnson had 14 kills and seven blocks, and Clarisse Evans finished with six points and seven kills for the Tigers (16-5, 11-1 Inter-County League).
For the Raiders (8-11, 6-6), Jodi James had four points, 18 kills and 33 digs while Kelly James added 10 points, three kills, four aces and eight digs.
Hubbard 15-15, LaBrae 3-5
LEAVITTSBURG -- Nicole Pringle scored 10 points and had eight assists for the Eagles who captured the Trumbull Athletic Conference title with a 15-0 record and extended their over TAC winning streak to 150.
Jessica Williams added six points while Katy Jo Mroski had nine kills, two blocks and four aces. Traci Hassell had five assists and four blocks.
Maddie D'Orio led the Vikings (6-16) with two points and two kills. Amanda Gordon had four kills and three blocks.
Girard 10-15-15, Lakeview 15-3-9
CORTLAND -- Stephanie Scarnecchia led the Indians (19-3, 13-3 TAC) with 10 kills. Tealle Hunkus had 10 digs and three aces and Erin Stevens had 41 assists.
Whitney Keyser led the Bulldogs (17-5, 13-3) with seven points, 15 kills and 18 digs. Kate Barnett had seven points.
Brookfield 15-15, Newton Falls 0-5
BROOKFIELD -- Kim Najvusak had 13 points and three aces while Rachel Pasquerilla added eight points and 12 assists for the Warriors (12-8, 10-6 TAC).
Brookfield also got 10 kills and 12 digs from Jessica Zebroski. Lora Mason had two points and four digs while Ashley Shaver added five blocks for the Tigers (5-13, 4-12).

YOUNGSTOWN -- Heather Pegg had 13 kills, Jennifer Seifert added 10 points and Kelly Meyer tacked on 20 assists for the Golden Flashes (9-8, 8-8 TAC).
For the Leopards (7-12, 4-11), Sunny Smallwood scored eight points and Nikki Pozzuto had nine digs.
West Branch 15-15,Akron Springfield 12-6
BELOIT -- Amanda Benner had nine points, five kills and 10 passes for the Warriors, who wrapped up the Northeastern Buckeye Conference title with a 13-1 record.
Samantha Benner also had three kills, three blocks and four passes for the Warriors.
Crestview 15-3-15,Columbiana 6-15-7
COLUMBIANA -- Abbey Fristik sparked the Rebels (19-3, 14-0 Tri-County League) with seven points, eight kills, five digs, six aces and a block.
Kelly Simmons had six kills, seven digs, two aces and four points, while Katie Kibby had seven kills and four blocks. Lindsay Sapp had 23 assists, two kills, four digs and eight points.
Carly Washinko paced the Rebels with 11 kills and four points. Cara Hardenbrook added eight points, two aces and two kills. Amanda Allan had 52 sets and 18 assists.
