Boardman golfers qualify for state

CANTON -- The Boardman High girls golf team qualified for the state tournament for the fifth time in nine years, finishing third out of 16 teams in the district tournament this week at Tam 'O Shanter Golf Club.
Leading the Spartans was Betsy Beraduce, who shot 87 for the 18-hole event. Kelly Milton scored 91, Carly Karzmer had a 95, Megan Yanik a 97 and Annie Frank a 101.
"The conditions were rather difficult, with high winds and cold temperatures all day," Boardman coach Gary Konya said.
Other local teams competing were Canfield (10th with a score of 378), Cardinal Mooney (11th, 383) and Lakeview (15th, 398).
Boardman will compete in the state tournament next weekend at Ohio State University. In previous trips to the state meet, Boardman has finished second twice, third and fourth.
