SHARON New rules finalized for money giveaway

SHARON, Pa. -- Businessman James E. Winner Jr. has finalized the rules for Saturday's money giveaway designed to draw people into the downtown business district.
There won't be any money shot off the roof of the Winner department store as was done last Saturday.
This time, adults over the age of 18 who are wearing red, white and blue or carrying an American flag are being invited to line up on the sidewalk going east from The Winner department store at 32 W. State St. to be given a "mystery envelope" at a table in front of the store.
The first 400 people in line will get an envelope containing either cash, gift certificates or Sharon Fun Money, which provides a 10 percent discount at any of the Winner stores. The cash and gift certificates will total $1,500 while the fun money totals $5,000.
Anyone also carrying a Club vehicle anti-theft device will be given a second envelope. The Club, which is made by Winner, cannot be passed from person to person, even among couples. Anyone wanting a second envelope must bring their own Club.
The cash in the envelopes can be in denominations of $100, $50, $20, $10, $5 or $2.
Several people were hurt and there was some property damage when hundreds of people scrambled for $2 bills and Sharon Fun Money shot off the roof of The Winner last Saturday, prompting Winner to change the giveaway format which will continue each Saturday in October.
