YOUNGSTOWN -- The Southern Boulevard Block Watch will present an election forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Dominic Parish Center (the former St. Dominic School), at 3403 Southern Blvd. Featured will be the contest between Atty. James Callen and Judge R. Scott Krichbaum for Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge and presentations concerning the half-percent county sales tax renewal and the proposed half-percent city income tax increase.
TGIF for youths
YOUNGSTOWN -- TGIF, an alternative to the bar scene, will be from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at New Beginnings Outreach Ministries. The event is co-sponsored by Protestant Campus Ministry at Youngstown State University and a new student organization, International Spanish Latin Association.
The event will be a mix of contemporary Christian music and praise. Patrons should use the Wick Avenue entrance to the church. YSU students get in free with a valid college identification. Youths 16 and older are also welcome with a proper ID. The cost is $3.
