Council OKs abatement for company to expand

THE VINDICATOR, YOUNGSTOWN
WARREN -- City council has approved a 10-year, 75 percent tax abatement to enable a Sferra Avenue company to expand.
Steel Valley Plastics Inc./P & amp;B Management wants to build a 7,500-square-foot addition for a second manufacturing line that will double its capacity.
The company, which is in Warren Commerce Park, makes 3-to-5-gallon water bottles. Tony Iannucci, a representative of Warren Redevelopment and Planning, an economic development agency for the city, told council Wednesday the company has realized $2 million in sales so far this year.
It employs seven full-time and four part-time employees and expects to hire an additional six full-time and four part-time employees within three years. Work on the expansion is expected to start next week and wrap up in March. The expansion involves a $1,053,000 investment.
Robert Angelo, president of the Warren Board of Education, told council members that the school board doesn't object to the abatement.
