TUCSON, Ariz. -- Youngstown State lost 4-0 to Idaho State in the second round of the Arizona Tournament.
The Bengals (6-5-1) scored 36 seconds into the match and out-shot the Penguins 26-1.
YSU is 1-10.
Softball
COLUMBUS -- Youngstown State split six games in the Ohio Charity Classic to conclude its fall season with a 12-4 record.
The Penguins defeated Bowling Green, 3-2; Wright State, 6-3, and Dayton, 4-2, and lost to Cleveland St., 12-3; Ohio, 4-3, and Ohio St., 1-0.
Freshman Tiffany Patteson went 3-for-3 against Bowling Green while Char Kudlock picked up two hits against the Buckeyes.
Cross country
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Sophomore Emily Schnitkey finished third in the women's Gold Race at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Schnitkey's third-place 5K time of 18 minutes, 34 seconds led the women to an 11th place finish, while senior Will Edwards led the men to an 18th place finish in the men's Blue Race.
Edwards was 58th with a time of 25:48 in the 8K event.

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Youngstown State had an 11-stroke lead when second-round competition began at the Golden Grizzly Invitational today.
The Penguins posted an 18-hole score of 334.
Lori Hatcher of YSU was tied with Emily Minnicher of Oakland for first, each with an 8-over par 80.
Grand Valley State was second with 345.

Boardman mancompletes marathon
DETROIT -- Terry Yarian of Boardman broke the four-hour mark by two minutes in the 25th Detroit Free Press Marathon Sunday.
The runners crossed the Ambassador Bridge and ran part of the course in Windsor, Canada making it an international marathon.
Yarian is a junior high teacher in the Columbiana school system.

MERCER, Pa -- At the third Little Guy Nationals Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park, celebrating in victory lane were Rick Hoctor (358 modifieds), Tony Hersh (stock car A feature), Bill Exley Jr. (stock car B feature) and Steve Lowery (stock car C feature).
James Youngblood of Warren captured his first Mercer Demolition Derby victory in the $500 to-win G & amp;G Auto Outlet "Gladiator Series" event.
Next up is the "Night of Fire on Saturday.

Tom Baker of Warren aced the No. 11 hole at Broadmoor West Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Col. Baker used a 7 wood on the 165-yard shot. Witnesses were Rob Hayes, Steve Binder and Bob Verlop. Incorrect information about this hole-in-one appeared in Sunday's edition.
Rockets openwith 5-4 loss
BROWNSTOWN, Mi. --The Mahoning Valley Phantom Rockets ice hockey team opened the Continental Elite Hockey League season Saturday with a 5-4 loss to the Brownstone Bombers.
Goalie Nick Signent made nine saves in the first period as the Rockets fell behind, 1-0.
The Rockets dominated the second period, scoring four goals. Brooks Harvey netted the franchise's first goal on a assist by Chad Blumes.
The Rockets took its first lead on a goal by Paul Pindroh, with assists from Tyler Miller and Eric Madden. Justin Cassel's two unassisted goals gave the Rockets a 4-2 lead.
Brownstone came back with three unanswered goals in the third period to win the game.
The Phantom Rockets' next game is Oct. 19 in Dayton. The first home game at Boardman's Ice Zone is be Oct. 24.

BOSTON -- Three men were acquitted of trying to kill Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce in a nightclub attack two years ago. Two of the defendants were convicted on lesser charges.

U.S. beats Panama
MONTERREY, Mexico -- The United States beat Panama 3-1 to advance to today's final of the Americas Series baseball tournament against Cuba, which improved to 9-0 after defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1.
