Teens arrested
CAMPBELL -- Police arrested two teenage boys who are accused of setting off homemade bombs in the woods and tossed one into a commercial trash container where a raccoon hid, police reports show.
Police were called to a wooded area on Kendall Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Monday after residents said they heard possible gunshots. Police found the 14- and 15-year-old boys, both of Kendall Avenue, coming out of the wooded area into a parking lot.
One of the boys told police they were setting off the bombs. A raccoon cowering in the trash bin was not breathing and appeared wet and had aluminum foil on its back.
Both teens were released to parents.
