CROSS COUNTRY Canfield, Struthers rule MAC



SALEM -- For the next year, cross country teams from Canfield and Struthers will hold bragging rights within the Metro Athletic Conference.
The Canfield boys and Struthers girls won team titles at the MAC championships last weekend at Memorial Park.
Canfield had four runners finish in the top 12 places as the Cardinals won the title with 49 points. Howland (59), Salem (69), Struthers (79) and Poland (108) followed.
Leading Canfield's way was Nick Frankie, who finished fifth in 17 minutes, 52.17 seconds. Bryon Holdt (18:16.44), Alan Munger (18:17.20) and Craig Repasky (18:19.78) were 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively.
Salem's Shane Harding won the individual title in 17:20.96.
Girls
Struthers' Candice Eagor, Amanda Ardale and Jessica Johnston were third, fourth and fifth, respectively, as the Wildcats won the girls team title with 37 points. Canfield (45), Salem (69), Poland (81) and Howland (124) followed.
Eagor finished in 20:48, while Ardale (20:49) and Johnston (20:51) were right behind.
Canfield's Mara Boak won the individual title in 20:24.
