At the Book Nook
A program on bats will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Book Nook in the Warren Plaza on Elm Road. Refreshments and a craft will be included. Call 372-3367 to make a reservation.
The Poetry Group will meet at the Book Nook Oct. 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The purpose of the session will be to have an open mike to read one's own poetry or others' poetry.
At Barnes & amp; Noble
Mel Watkins will conduct a book signing Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Barnes & amp; Noble in the Shops at Boardman Park. He is editor of a new collection called "African American Humor." His other books are "On The Real Side," and "Dancing With Strangers." The latter book is a reflection of growing up black in Youngstown in the 1950s. The first two books represent numerous black perspectives on comedy, social issues and being American. He is a former editor at the New York Times Book Review and lives in New York.
Christopher Butler, author of "Across Many Miles," a look at Ohio high school football, will conduct a book signing Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Barnes & amp; Noble will hold an educators' night Friday from 4 to 7. This is an open house for area educators to receive freebies and gain continuing education credit.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Barnes & amp; Noble will conduct a multicultural storytime to feature community leaders and members from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds telling stories in native languages and English.
The Military History Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday with the topic "That Was Then."
On Oct. 16, The Women in Print book club will meet at 7 p.m.
